Self Defense Mechanism
Self Defense Mechanism is a menswear collection designed to act as a protective layer for the wearer. The collection responds to an era of information overload, in which people receive more messages each day than one person can absorb. Prints based on neuron and mesh geometry suggest spreading and blurring, so the outside world becomes harder to see and the mind can stay calm. Cotton and nylon mesh are sewn together to form a new texture that echoes the printed pattern. The garments follow standard men's measurements and can be worn as everyday clothing.
Self Defense Mechanism Garment by Yi Tung Hung has been identified as an innovative representation of fashion design by the A' Design Award. Self Defense Mechanism Garment won the Iron A' Design Award in Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design in 2023. The A' Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that honors outstanding design of runway collections, dresses, suits, skirts, outerwear, jackets, apparel, garments and more.
